Unique Services and Applications / Flagnations were able to remove a used 110' steel flagpole from a separate location and ship to Mulch Works located in Plum, PA. The flagpole needed extensive repairs because it had a bad bend in the flagpole about 70' up from the ground. The flagpole was cut into 3 sections, then new 3/4" X 3' long steel sleeves were installed into the cut pieces. Using this technique we were able to straighten out the bend and get the flagpole straight and plumb once again. The sleeves were then welded into place with a seam weld and 4 plug welds to each side of the seam that was cut. The flagpole was prepped for paint, grinding the welds flush and sanding and scraping the old paint. One full coat of oil-based rusty red metal primer was applied followed by one full coat of oil-based finish silver paint. All new hardware was installed including, Stainless steel snaps, snap covers to protect the paint, 12" gold ball, large outrigger style truck system with a 1 1/4" spindle, 3/8" solid braided nylon rope with a steel center core, cleat, and flash collar. The flagpole was then lifted with a 40 Ton crane and set into a foundation sleeve that went 11' into the ground. Finally, the 20' X 38' American flag (Garrison Flag) was raised and the job was completed.
