We removed the flagpoles and flagpole bases from the courtyard of the courthouse and cleaned them with an acid-based cleaner to bring them back to their original finish. We then re-installed the flagpoles to their original positions on the wall. Next, we installed a new hardware including solid braided nylon rope, stainless steel snaps, gold ball, aluminum truck system, non-tangle rods, cleats, lock boxes, and new flags. 


The main purpose of this project was to allow for the operation of these flagpoles from the ground instead of leaning out a 2nd story window to access the ropes. We designed a system in which the flags can be raised and lowered by attaching a ring to the base of the flagpole, where the wall and flagpole meet, so when the flags are at full mast the rope will be tight to the flagpole. We also provided the flags which have a custom pocket at the bottom of each flag to allow the non-tangle rods to pass through, which provides a weight to prevent the flags from wrapping around the flagpole.

The ground set flagpole located in front of the building on Grant St. was completely restored. We painted the flagpole with an aluminum oil-based paint and painted the ball on top gold and also restored the base by painting with to coats of gold paint and finished with a clear coat. We replaced the rope, stainless steel snaps, snap covers, and provided a lock box with a cleat to prevent theft. U.S.A. also provided three heavy duty nylon flags which include the US flag, PA State flag, and the County flag.
